How to Handle Your Worry
Matthew 8:25-27

Part 2 - WHAT'S THE CURE FOR WORRY?

  1. Ask for help.
Philippians 4:6 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Worriers are always reluctant to ask for help.

  2. Question your fears.
Luke 2:10 - But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Worries always grow out of our fears.

  3. Increase your faith.
Matthew 6:30 - If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Luke 8:14 - The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.

The same circumstances that cause our worry, are designed to exercise our faith.

  4. Acknowledge God's control.
1 Chronicles 29:11 - Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.

Matthew 6:26-27 - Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Matthew 6:34 - Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

1 Peter 5:7 - Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Recognize that God is with us and acknowledge His control in everything.
