AWANA & 24-7 MINISTRIES ALERT
The Countdown is on! Our 18th year of Awana and 24-7
Ministries at ARBC will begin on Sunday, September 12 at 5:00 p.m. with a special
Kickoff theme night! Early Registration is scheduled to begin on
Sunday, August 15. Forms will be available at the Welcome Centers in
the Worship Center, Family Life Center, and the Children’s Building. You
will need to come to the Children’s Building to complete the
registration. We hope to have the online Registration/Medical Releases
up on the website by Friday, August 6. Watch the website for the new
forms. Please try to register early—this will help us to keep the
registration lines shorter on our first night back.
August is a busy month with families squeezing in that
last vacation or weekend away before the new school year starts back up.
We will also be having last minute leader trainings and planning
meetings during August.
Leaders are Needed - If you would be willing to
come and join us for a couple of hours each Sunday night to lead our
children and teens through memorizing God’s Word and being a Christian
testimony to them, then please contact either Bill or Nancy Sword at:
Bill - billsword@yahoo.com, cell # 972-998-1022 or Nancy - nsword501@verizon.net,
cell # 972-795-5385. We look forward to hearing from you!
Awana and 24-7 Ministries
Events
ARBC Awana Store - Our Cubbies, Sparks and T&T’ers
have an opportunity each week to earn special shares in Awana. These
shares may be used to purchase items in our Awana Store. We offer a
special Christmas Store each year for them to do their Christmas
shopping for friends and family. Karla Smith is our Store Director. She
staffs the store each Sunday night before Awana through the Awana year.
She also stocks the store throughout the year. Shares are earned for:
attendance, bringing your handbook, bringing your Bible, completing
sections in the handbooks, bringing new guests to our clubs, and special
contests the directors or commanders have.
Awana Dominican Club - Rueben and Vicki Dominguez
moved to the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2009. They had been
active in our ARBC Club over the past year and a half and saw how God
used this ministry in a mighty way. They were moving to the Dominican
Republic to begin work on starting an orphanage. They also wanted to
start an Awana club and our ARBC Clubs would sponsor them in this
endeavor. It has taken a year, but finally they met with the current
Awana Missionary for the Dominican Republic, and we are hoping to have
their club operative sometime in the next month or two. Please be
in prayer as they work toward this goal.
Missions - Food Pantry, Thanksgiving Baskets,
etc. - Each month, our club collects a Missions Offering. Half of this
offering goes to our Awana Missionary and half goes to our Local Mission
needs and Food Pantry. We have helped many families in need over the
past 10 years by the generous giving of the children, teens and leaders
in our Awana Club. You should be proud of all of the families they have
reached through this ministry.
Cubbie Olympics - ARBC Awana Event - In April or
May, we invite all the Cubbie parents, grandparents, etc. to come and
watch their Cubbies as they compete against each other in group games.
It is always a fun night for all!
Cubbie Hot Wheel Race and Annual David Hyde Memorial
Grand Prix Race - ARBC Awana Event - Each spring, we designate one
Saturday to be our Race Day. Our Cubbies come and race their hot wheel
cars against each other on the big race track. Our Sparks, T&T, Trek and
Journey Clubs, plus our adults, compete against their own age groups in
a fun pinewood derby type car race. We have named our race after a
special Awana friend and supporter, David Hyde. We are proud to carry on
his love for this special event!
Grand Prix Race - Regional Awana Event - The
participants of our local Grand Prix Race have the opportunity to
compete in the Regional Race against the winners of other churches in
our area.
Sparks and T&T Awana Games - Regional Event - Our
Sparks and T&T students train with our coaches and compete against area
churches in the Awana Games. This event will be held in late fall this
year.
T&T Bible Quiz - Regional Event - Our T&T
students train with our coaches and compete in Bible Quizzing based on
the books that they are completing at that time. They compete against
teams from other churches in our area.
24-7 Ministries Bible Quizzing - Regional Event -
State Level - 7th - 8th Grade - Our Trek students have the opportunity
to try out for both Bible Quiz and Game Teams to compete in the State
Level. They train with their coaches and leaders for several months
before the events. This event is usually in mid to late winter or early
spring each year.
24-7 Ministries Games - Regional Event - State
Level - National Level - 9th - 12th Grade - Our Journey students have
the opportunity to try out for both Bible Quiz and Game Teams to compete
at the State Level and the National Level in Awana. This event is
usually in mid to late winter or early spring. The State Competitions
will be held in the Dallas area this year, and the National Competitions
will be held in Chicago again this year.
